Tips for Planning Your Wedding

This is more like a photographer's wish list. It's a list of things you can do to ensure that you get the best images possible. And a few side tips too!

A Variety Pack

Black and White, Color, or a vintage feel. We love to give you lots of options when we edit each photo.

All The Details

Every little detail, every side story...we capture it all. We shoot all of our weddings as though it was our own.

All the Emotions

I love those moments where everyone lets there walls down and they just allow themselves to fall into that exact moment. It's the emotional part of the story.

Images by the Thousands

We get asked all the time...How many pictures do you take? The answer...on average we take 2000-5000 images

Husband and Wife Team

We first fell in love with photography. Then many years later we fell in love with each other. We combined our passions and found a way to spend more time together. An innovative photography company prevailed.

Thinking About Your Destination

So where are you getting married? It's always the most important question on a photographer's mind. The location determines everything. A gorgeous location ensures that your photographer will have a lot of great locations to work with. But, let's face it...most of the beautiful locations also come with an ugly price. So ask yourself this. Is your location a place that you would like a framed picture of? If not, then let us suggest something that may be the perfect answer.
Think about taking some extra time to travel to a different location to do your wedding day photo shoot. This doesn't mean that you have to sacrifice pictures of your venue... trust us you will get tons of pictures of the location through out the day. Changing location means that you are giving your photographer an opportunity to be creative and use the beautiful scenery to create a work of art instead of just trying to make it work. Of course you will need to plan for more time to do your photo shoot, but we always suggest that anyway.
It's always best to give your photographer the most opportunities to capture the images that really tell the beautiful story that is your wedding day.
So while planning, think of local parks, historic locations, farms, fields, etc that could be just perfect for your big day.
Tip: It's not easy for a photographer to tell their clients that a location is less than ideal. So you can ask, but understand that you will probably get a very safe answer.

Our Wedding Gone Bad

Weddings can be extremely stressful which leads brides to often ask, "is it worth all of this?"
As Eddie and I celebrated our one year anniversary it caused me to reflect on our marriage and the answer to that question. Yes, I think that running to Vegas would be a less stressful approach, but I wouldn't suggest it. You'd miss out on all the things that make a wedding beautiful. No matter how stressed you may feel...your wedding day will be the one day where you can look your best, celebrate the important day of your life, and have everyone around you that you love.
Eddie and I had a disaster wedding. I don't think we have witnessed a wedding that has had so many flubs. But, the day was still the most magical and emotional experience I ever had. And all all the stress went away the moment I put my hand on his shoulder so we could see each other for the first time. Plus, no one even noticed that things were going wrong so in the end we were the only ones to know.

Here are a few pictures that we took from our anniversary and our first day off in over 6 months. We are such dorks!

All these were taken with our little point and shoot. We almost forgot how to use it.

This is our little girl Lucy. She isn't much to look at but she sure is the sweetest dog alive. These are some of our famous action shots. We can't go anywhere without them.

And we always have to write something in the sand.

Remember to Keep a Smile on Your Face

When things get stressful...
I owe this great tip to Jennifer Alday. She got married on August 29th and hat a lot on her plate trying to prepare for her wedding, but she was clever enough to find a cure to that stress. Jennifer grabbed her cell phone and added daily reminders for her to keep a smile on her face when things became stressful. It was such a great idea! It's always good to remind yourself of why you are doing all this work. It's to celebrate the most wonderful day of your life and to help create amazing memories of that day.

How to Fix Messy Pictures

Cleaning up your dressing room will help a photographer capture beautiful images in an otherwise "hazardous" environment. Let's face it ladies....some of your dressing rooms can be pretty bad.

I can't tell you how many times I have thought to myself "If only that ______ wasn't there" when editing my primping photos. Yes, I can take out a lot with Photoshop, but there are a lot of occasions where an object can't be taken out because it just wouldn't look right.

So to ensure quality photos try keeping your room tighty and ask your girls to pick things up along the way. Your photographer will thank you.

Where does our time go?

It seems like I am always asking myself this same question..."Where has our time gone?" We spend so much time intently focused on our Macs that we look up at 2 in the morning and realize that are day is done.
Let's see, it's 11 am on a week day which means that we have officially stretched , pulled back the sheets and crawled out of bad. It may sound like we are lazy, but we really do stay up until 2 or 3 am. My husband and I have a about 45 minutes of "alone" time which means that we go our separate ways and focus on the things we need to do to start our day and stay sane I might add. I normally read my Bible, grab a bite to eat and walk through the garden. Can't honestly say what Eddie does. Then we find our stations behind our computers.
We have the best job in the world for the pure fact that my entire day consists of sitting about 1 foot away from my hubby. I really couldn't ask for more!
We normally run through and answer emails, spend about 4-5 hours working on business things like updating our online galleries, our website, and making phone calls. Then from about 3-3 we edit photos. Crazy huh? When you stare at a computer screen for that long you have to have some sort of stimulus that helps manage the sanity. We normally pop in a movie and listen to it while we edit. And it never seems like enough time.
I love updating our friends on what we have been up to, because they all know that we were either shooting a wedding or editing one. Yes, the life of a photographer isn't quite as glamorous and most people think. We live pretty simple lives. But, we are lucky enough to spend everyday exactly one foot apart from each other....and we call it work.
